"I got out a few minutes early. I saw your car from the
ramp."

"That's good. I like girls who are on time. Let's have a
drink at the Hilton."

"Sounds lovely, I wondered if you would show up."

"Sure. What made you think otherwise?"

"Well, your girl friend. She might not like it. Would you
mind if we stopped at my apartment on the way out so I could grab
a shower and change?"

At Collen's apartment Jay fixed the drinks and walked into
the bathroom where Collen was having her shower. Handing her the
drink, he reached for her and kissed her.

"You're gonna get yourself wet like that."

"Maybe I better take my clothes off if I'm gonna wash your
back."

"That would be a good idea."

It was late the following morning when Jay returned to the
hotel. Julie was still lying in the bed.

"Have you had breakfast?"

"No. I have really just woken up."

"I thought you would be up and dressed by now. You want to
go down to breakfast after you're ready?"

"No. I prefer to eat my breakfast in bed."

"As you like. I'm gonna order now."

The rest of the day would go the same way; an air of indif-
ference toward each other hung over them.
