On checking out of the motel. Jay once again used the Corporate
American Express card. Julie was waiting in the car. "I hope
our whole trip will be like this to Chicago."

"We can do what ever we want to, baby, it's up to us."
"It's just that I'm not in a hurry to get to Chicago."
But now Jay had the feeling he wanted to get there. He
would drive straight through if necessary.

It was almost morning, and Jay had been driving all night.
He was glad Julie had been asleep. Later in the day when they
arrived in Chicago they went to check in at the Hilton. Jay felt
he would hardly make the shower before collapsing. But the trip
was done. They were there. The feel of the fresh sheets felt
soothing. In all this twenty-two years Jay had never felt so
tired. He didn't even feel Julie come to bed after her shower.

"I've ordered something from room service."

"What time is it?"

"Five in the morning."

"We sure slept a long time. It must have been three yester-
day afternoon when we came to bed."

"Well, I've been awake for a couple of hours but didn't have
the heart to wake you."

When Jay got Lonburger on the phone, it was eleven o'clock.
"Hey, what's the address of this office of yours?" Lonburger
gave a north Michigan address.

"How will I get in?"
