will
of course be handled by the company." A big hurrah went up.
"O.K., you're dismissed." Everyone started to get up. Jay went
around his desk to talk with Julie. Her eyes lit up when he
told
her to remain seated as the rest of the people went out for
lunch.
"Julie,
I hope you enjoyed the party last evening. Sorry I
had to break it off so early but I had this trip to plan."
He noticed
that she still had on the shoes from the night
before.
"Oh,
by the way, Julie if you need cash for shopping for the
weekend trip. YOU can get an advance by having a word with
Diane. She'll handle it."
"Oh,
that's nice."
"Well,
it's your paycheck. Now want to have lunch? It's a
long one today; Ripley has another meeting. We can cross to
Minneapolis."
"Sure,
I'd love it."
As they
zipped down the freeway, Julie enjoyed Jay's new
Cadillac. "I love your car, it gives me a feeling of being very
light. It smells like a new pair of shoes." Jay looked over
at
her, taking in everything from her lips to the tips of her toes
before he looked back at the road.
"We'll
have a good time on this trip, Julie. We'll be in
the field during the day on Saturday, and then on Saturday
evening we'll have a celebration for your graduation. This class
will be our first to graduate this summer."
"So
the study is over. You are always learning new things, but
the truth is you can learn so much you can't make a deal."
