The
clerk already knew they would; she could always tell.
She thought the girl was very cute, and the man nice to her.
They were a nice young couple, which was very lucky.
"If
you wouldn't mind, Julie, you can return to the cocktail
lounge, and tell Tom and Mr. McCarty I'll be with them in just
a
few minutes."
"Do
I leave my things?"
"Here,
the clerk has your things already in the packages."
Julie
went out of the shop with her shoes from Walmart's
in the Charles Jordan box. The clerk was preparing the bill
and
replied, showing the receipt "four hundred and nine dollars,
sir."
"Yes,
fine, I would like that bill sent to Mr. McCarty's
suite."
"Would
you mind if I check with the reception?"
"Oh,
my dear, go right ahead."
It only
took a few minutes for the reception to verify that
the charge would be fine. The clerk asked Jay to sign the bill,
thanked him for his visit, and wished him well, hoping he would
come again, while pointing out that he had excellent taste for
beauty. She also commented that she hoped he and the young lady
would be very happy together.
As Jay
turned the corner into the cocktail lounge, the first
thing he saw was Julie, her eyes lit up like the stars in the
sky. Taking his place at the table. Jay ordered a double Chivas
as Bob gave a look of approval.
"I think
we should go to my suite; my people will be arriv-
ing very soon."
