When
they arrived at the hotel Bob was already settled at a
large corner table in the cocktail lounge. "Mr. McCarty, this
is
my new trainee, Julie Mershon."
"Very
pleased to meet you. Hi Tom."
"You
look happy today. Bob."
"Well,
Tom, it's in the air. Please, sit down. Waitress.
Three Chivas on the rocks, and what will you have Julie?"
"Make
mine a brass monkey."
"Well,
you heard the young lady." Bob smiled at Julie
approvingly as he dismissed the waitress.
"I'm
very glad you were able to come early; it gives us a
chance to say hello before the others arrive. Oh, which brings
to mind..." Just then the waitress arrived with the drinks.
"Well, here's to love and success. As I was saying, there is
a
boutique here in the hotel."
"Oh
yes, well when Julie and I finish our drinks, we're
going to leave you fellows for a few minutes."
In the
boutique Julie looked at everything while trying to
pretend not to want all the things she saw. She was sure every-
thing must cost a fortune there.
"Julie,
why don't you look around for a nice cocktail dress,
but maybe one that would be suitable for wearing on other occa-
sions." Jay could see just the outfit he wanted her to wear.
It
was a sleek jump suit of a fine and delicate fabric. It was
the
most beautiful baby blue, and that was Jay's favorite color.
"It's beautiful. What do you think Julie?"
"Well,
it is very nice, but I don't know."
